                                                            Sunset Skies  

Mix colours before you start.

Add white to Yellow make it cooler

Quin. Red (Centre left below) is a powerful red. 

Quin Red + Orange + BS --- darken with UMB = fab Black

       Add TW   for cool (Sky clouds)   or for a cooler red on the landscape

Avoid getting TW into colours by accisent    In the pic. below TW is only in the Yellow mix

UMB + Orange for trees WARM   -  cool off with Cer Blue





Darkest dark and lightest light down first with knife.   Cool Lemon Y surrounded by warm yellow


Lower part all with a knife.  The knife is short and narrow,

UMB + Orange added YOchre for both sides    Added Y for centre

Path   BS + UMB +> TW


SKY    The 3 purple mixes 

  

Lemon Y used in the sky

Very light top of sky which was undercoated with 

Cerulean Blue


He now goes to the trees... below

Handy to have a series of brushes for darks- lights

Always get some sky colour into your landscape

The light on the edges of the trees is very subdued  -- 

a warm olive



Reestablish darks as you loose them

Underneath of the clouds brightened below. This was done with a brush.


Now he goes into the clouds adding light   - breaking up the large purple area on top.

Ceruleun and Lemon Y in sky

                      "Keep the painting colourful by reducing the amount of White paint"


                           Lots of touches of colour in the shadows of the grasses.
